Gov. Jerry Brown has until Oct. 13 to decide the fate of a bill that would ban ammunition made from lead.
Supporters say that lead poses a health risk to human and wildlife, and that there are alternatives to lead. The proposed bill would not go into effect until July 1, 2019, to make sure alternatives would be available.
The lead bullet ban by the California Legislature is up for signature by the Governor, but I am not aware of any solid evidence that lead from the fragments of a spent bullet causes poisoning to anyone, whether a human being or an animal. This seems but another effort to limit our Constitutional rights whether you are a gun advocate or sports enthusiast.
